The ISO 45001 safety management standard was recently launched, and to help safety professionals stay abreast of new developments and become competent, Safety Advocacy and Empowerment Foundation (SAEF), in partnership with Lagos State Safety Commission (LSSC) and support from Baca Resources organized a seminar.
The event, aptly titled “Anatomy of ISO 45001”, was anchored by Engineer Jamiu Badmos, an IRCA registered management system auditor of SAEF at the iconic LCCI conference and exhibition centre.
At the seminar, attendees were made to understand the different widely used safety management systems and their peculiarities, in contrast to the newly launched ISO 45001 safety management system. The new standard is touted to be the holy grail of health and safety management in the modern business environment, with a clear focus on risk-based thinking and leadership commitment – both essential to business continuity and profitability.
Also at the event, the upcoming Lagos State Vision Zero conference scheduled for June 26th to 28th 2018 was announced, as a mark of the state government’s commitment to health and safety across workplaces within the state.
In view of this development, Organizations can now demonstrate their commitment to sustainable business and global best practices by implementing the ISO 45001 management system and continuously monitor performance for continual improvement.
